Top 10 Exhaust Videos of August 2010
The most popular exhaust videos of August, 2010.
#1 – Borla Exhausts for the 2011 Mustang GT
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundThis is, without a doubt, the best manufacturer produced exhaust video I’ve seen. Not only are the production values high, but the sound quality is excellent and the video *really* helps buyers figure out which exhaust they want for their 2011 Mustang. Very well done.
#2 – 2011 BMW 335i with Performance Exhaust
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundAll you beemer fans have really driven the popularity of this video. It’s interesting, but not really special…unless you’re into BMW 335i’s…then it’s awesome. It’s cool that so many people care about what this car will sound like.
#3 – 2011 Mustang GT with Magnaflow Compeition Cat-Back
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundIt seems like the world can’t get enough video of 5.0 Mustang exhaust systems. This is a Magnaflow competition cat-back system…sounds loud, but good.
#4 – Computerized Mandrel Bender In Action
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundEvery exhaust system manufacturer worth it’s salt uses mandrel-bent tubing. The reason? Mandrel-bent tubing is smooth, and smooth tubing flows best. Most automakers use serrated bent tubing because of it’s low cost, but a serrated bend interrupts flow and can reduce power. If you want to see a mandrel bending machine in action, this video is worth a look.
#5 – AE Performance M3 Sport Exhaust
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundThis E9x M3 has a pretty fast sounding exhaust system. I’m not a big fan of the rims on this ride, but it sounds fantastic, and I admire the driver’s willingness to shred his tires for demonstration purposes…those puppies aren’t cheap.
#6 – Porsche 997.2 Turbo with Agency Power Exhaust
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundSound quality? Pretty bad. Car? Pretty awesome. There aren’t too many production cars that are quicker – at least not many that you’ve got a chance of seeing on the road.
#7 – 2010 Porsche Cayman with Tubi Exhaust System
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundMaybe it’s the sound quality, but this video doesn’t make me want to buy this exhaust system. While it’s definitely prettier than the factory system, it’s hard to imagine that Porshce’s engineers left power on the table…it sounds no better than a stock Cayman and probably doesn’t add any power either. If I spoke Korean and could read what the video description, maybe I’d have a different opinion.
#8 – Evo with Milltek Cat-Back
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundNothing like doing 0-60 launches in the neighborhood – at least the car sounds awesome (only I thought I heard a backfire, anyone else?).
#9 – M3 With Active Auto Exhaust vs. Stock M3
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundAssuming that these cars really are equal (and that’s a fairly big assumption), it would seem that an exhaust system can make the difference in a street race. Reasons that these two cars might be unequal include:
- Different adaptive tuning resulting in different engine and/or transmission performance (all cars have this)
- Tires – both in terms of getting a better launch and in terms of rolling resistance
- Engine break-in – newer cars usually need a few thousand miles to hit their peak performance. How many times do we see long term test vehicles from Edmunds or C&D get a better 1/4 mile time after 10k miles of use?
Still, it’s a cool video.
#10 – Hyundai Genesis 2.0T with and without Agency Power Exhaust
Problem retrieving videos from provider: Not FoundAside from the high frequency feedback that makes me want to throw my laptop across the room, this video is a great before-and-after demonstration of the sound change. 10 hp at the wheel ain’t bad.
